Veterinary Specialty Services provides advanced specialized care for animals, collaborating with veterinarians throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan Area and beyond. We are a 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital committed to providing excellent, advanced care. Our state-of-the-art facility is fully equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment. We are looking to add talented technician assistants to join our team at our Manchester, MO location.
This is an entry level Technician position, perfect for new grads and/or those wishing to gain experience in emergency and specialty veterinary medicine! All technician assistants have the opportunity to advance to a Specialty Veterinary Technician role with experience. Technician Assistants will assist in providing nursing care to critically ill hospitalized patients in conjunction with specialty and emergency veterinarians. Assist technicians and veterinarians with patients presenting on emergency and assist with diagnostics and treatments of emergency patients.
Our specialty technician assistants work four 10 hour shifts per week (up to $3/hr shift differential applies for weekend and overnight shifts). We also have our assistants work a consistent schedule each week with the ability to trade shifts when needed.
Responsibilities - include but are not limited to:

  • Provide restraint of patients to assist with exams and patient care
  • Obtain blood samples, place IV catheters, set up and continuous care for critical hospitalized patients.
  • Post-op patient recovery monitoring
  • Observe patients and recognize subtle changes in status
  • Perform physical exams on veterinary patients including obtaining vitals (TPRs, CRTs etc.)
  • Properly perform medical treatments on hospitalized patients including administering PO, IM, Sub Q and IV medications
  • Completion of a Veterinary Technology Program with an accredited college OR at least 1 year of previous experience in a veterinary clinic/hospital. Will consider those currently enrolled in an accredited veterinary technician program.
  • Highly motivated, team players, with a positive attitude. Additionally, you must be able to work efficiently, with an emphasis on multi-tasking and prioritization, and be able to thrive in a fast paced environment.
