Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Academic Affairs oversees the various educational programs offered through the School and supports academic excellence. The Office of Academic Affairs staff members often participate in the admissions process and implement curriculum reviews and accreditation.The Office of Academic Affairs offers pre-admission evaluations for prospective DDS students, assists current students with any number of issues, and advocates for the student body to ensure needs are met.
Position Summary
The Technology Support Specialist will be responsible for training and consulting with faculty in the usage of computer software (Sakai/Canvas). This position will support student and faculty troubleshoot software problems in Sakai, Canvas, and Emedley. This position will make recommendation to administration and communicate with the Office of Computer Information Systems (OCIS) when needed. The position will support faculty in use of education technology tools including, but not limited to Echo 360, PollEverywhere, Panopto, & Microsoft Office 360.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Technology Integration; Networking Technology, or related areas and two years of experience in the Information Technology field related to the position’s role; or a
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in the Information Technology Field related to the position’s role, or a
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or Engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in the Information Technology Field related to the position’s role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journey level requires an additional one year of experience.
- Advanced level requires an additional two years of experience.
