Job Title: Teen Program Coordinator/Mentor Location: 10 Kirk Street- Lowell, MA Background: The New American Association of Massachusetts (NAAM) is a non-profit organization that provides social support services to refugees, asylees, and immigrants. Core services include: ESOL classes, employment, case management, citizenship, youth programming, and more. NAAMs Teen Program serves youth in grades 9-12 through afterschool and summer programs.We are currently hiring a Teen Program Coordinator/Mentor to plan and implement day-to-day operations of the program, as well as supervise additional staff and volunteers. Focus is on individualized academic tutoring and mentoring, college preparation, employment help, driving permit, family engagement, and much more.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct outreach to NAAM families in Lowell, recruit teens and assess their needs and availability Provide 1:1 tutoring, in coordination with Lowell High School teachers and counseling department Hire additional staff with content-area knowledge Connect students with local colleges and employers Ensure afterschool and summer programs run smoothly by recruiting, enrolling, and scheduling new students, performing administrative tasks, buying snacks and supplies, organizing activities and field trips. Collect program-related data such as attendance and case notes, solicit feedback from students & families Oversee afterschool and summer staff, tutors, and volunteers by making schedules, organizing trainings, leading staff meetings, having regular check-ins, ensuring timesheets are filled out. Occasional additional family outreach, including home visits, as needed Occasional help with grant reports and grant writing, as neededRequired Qualifications: College degree in a relevant field Classroom teaching, or have worked with teens in educational setting Familiarity with standard high school academic content Technology savvy, online and cellphone (uses WhatsApp) Must be dependable, flexible, and have strong attention to detail and communication skills Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and comfortable working in-person Must be available to work during the summer Drivers license and reliable access to a vehicle Culturally sensitive and comfortable working with individuals from different countriesPreferred Qualifications: Experience working with immigrants and refugees, especially youth and teens Ability to speak another language, esp, Spanish, Pashto, Dari /Farsi, Haitian Creole, or Swahili Familiarity with Lowell and surrounding communities, including other social service resourcesCompensation & Schedule: $25 per hour, up to 30 hours per week. Schedule is flexible, but primarily afterschool, evenings, weekends, and summer.
