Job Overview

We are currently looking for a Test Lab Technician to join our team in Holland, MI. The level of the position hired will be based on your experience.

As an Test Lab Technician IV, you will:

Inspect, test, and analyze Haworth and competitors’ parts, products, and processes. Create reports detailing results of tests.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conducts performance and reliability tests on materials, component parts, prototype products, and processes to ensure test samples meet or exceed established and developmental standards and specifications.
  • Inspects test samples before, during, and after test; analyzes tested and returned parts and product to determine cause of failure and its effect on test sample.
  • Records observations and test data, using hand-written datasheets (requires clear hand writing); personal computer (PC) databases and spreadsheets, via keyboard/mouse; chart recordings; and video and photographic equipment and recordings, to ensure proper laboratory documentation is recorded.
  • Creates test reports, based on recorded data and observations, which carefully describe test methods, observations, and conditions, using PC and keyboard/mouse, to ensure proper laboratory documentation is recorded. Summarizes and presents data in written, verbal, tabular, and graphical form to recommend acceptance or rejection of test sample (when applicable).
  • Recommends and participates in development, review, critique, and rewriting of Haworth engineering specifications and agency standard test methods to maintain proper, consistent methods of ensuring quality.
  • Recommends and participates in development, design, and implementation of new and/or modified test machines, fixtures, and instrumentation to meet requirements of methods for developmental and reliability testing.
  • Prepares, disassembles, analyzes, documents, or disposes of test samples by stooping, crouching, twisting, kneeling, and walking while using hand tools, including moving/lifting test samples and equipment weighing up to 60 pounds unassisted (assistance given with heavier objects).
  • Ensures completeness of repairs on all test equipment and calibrates electronic and mechanical instrumentation as required to ensure accurate test equipment.
  • Creates and completes maintenance repair orders for all test equipment to ensure proper maintenance procedures are followed.

Do you have these required qualifications?

  • 2 years electrical, industrial, mechanical, or equivalent training at technical or vocational school or job-specific equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in operation of product test equipment and test reporting techniques, including basic measuring techniques.
  • Ability to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.
  • Ability to legally work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Do you have these preferred qualifications?

  • Electrical testing. UL (underwriters laboratory) and CSA standards testing
  • Experience in office furniture industry
