POSITION SUMMARY

The Therapist position supports the mission and values of the organization by providing individual and group counseling to adolescents and adults who are primary and/or secondary survivors of sexual, relational, and family trauma. The Therapist will maintain an outpatient therapy caseload while designing and implementing effective, compassionate, and creative treatment/interventions reflective of the needs of the survivors. This is a full-time exempt position.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Therapeutic Services:

  • Maintain an active caseload of adolescent and/or adult clients who are primary and/or secondary victims of sexual, relational, or family trauma.
  • Provide individual and group therapy as well as advocacy, support, and education to identified clients.
  • Deliver comprehensive and culturally competent, evidence-based therapeutic services to assigned clients.
  • Build and enhance community relationships while educating community members and professionals about family, sexual and relationship trauma, and TCC services.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in trauma-informed practices. The Staff Therapist will become Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Other areas of expertise and knowledge may be identified and pursued to meet client needs.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in topics of domestic violence, child abuse, human trafficking, sexual abuse, etc.
  • Support the presence of survivors in community settings by modeling healthy boundaries, self-care, and skills of emotional regulation; maintain personal boundaries in the community and on social media that consistently affirm confidentiality, healthy relationships, and TCC values.
  • Respond to disclosures and discussion of interpersonal violence with professionalism and compassion both in one-on-one and group settings.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all services delivered in accordance with agency protocols and procedures.
  • Strictly adhere to agency confidentiality and safety protocols.
  • Adhere to all agency protocols and policies regarding services to clients
  • Participate in the ongoing evaluation of the clinical program and assist in developing and implementing new program services and assisting with outreach and communication.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervising Therapist II and/or Director of Clinical Services.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in Counseling and/or Social Work required. Clinical supervision towards licensure provided. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Must pass a FBI/LE and an Abuse/Neglect registry/background check. Opportunities for higher credentials are available.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time, exempt position. This position works 36 core hours with additional four hours as necessary and/or required. Core hours will be 9-5 Mondays and Wednesdays and 10-8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position operates in an extremely busy professional office and/or childcare environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand/walk
  • Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel and reach items
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities like preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
  • Occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

TRAVEL

Occasional travel, mostly within Sioux Falls. May travel overnight to attend conferences or training.
