The Role
Create computational models to better understand the abuse tolerance of different high voltage components and systems. Use this understanding to assess hazards collaborate in the development of battery packs across a broad product line.
Responsibilities
- Develop heat transfer, fluid flow and combustion models to simulate system performance in abuse scenarios.
- Develop novel tests for studying various battery properties under abusive conditions to correlate models.
- Building and using first-principle analytical models to rapidly drive design decisions.
- Create standards which help define design directions for new programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Strong thermal and mechanical foundation
Desirable Skills
- Experience with CFD tools like STAR-CCM+ or ANSYS.
- Experience with Matlab and CAD software
- Measurement equipment experience (DAQs, sensors, etc.)
- Understanding of basic electrochemistry
- Statistics experience
- Lithium ion / automotive / grid scale energy storage experience
