Tool & Die Maker

$20 – 30/hour, Depending on skillset and years in the trade

Two Shifts Available: 6:00am – 2:30pm, 2:30pm – 11:00pm, Mon – Fri

Staffworks Group is currently hiring for an experienced Tool & Die Maker for a manufacturing customer that produces high-quality precision metal stamping, prototyping and progressive tool and die services located in Brooklyn Hts.

This position will be responsible for the build and repair of progressive stamping dies, new developments, major rebuilds, repairs and routine maintenance. You will work with Tool Room Management, Engineering, Production and Quality Departments to ensure parts are in compliance with customer specifications.

Duties/ Responsibilities

• Build and maintain stamping dies from startup and development through final die tryout and part approval. Ongoing die/process improvement.
• Top-down review of current stamping die operation and the part results produced from that tool and press set up. Working in a diagnostic mode with available or requested layout inspection, CMM or Vision System data.
• Work from part prints, die layout and detail drawings, sketches, samples and verbal instructions to produce tooling
• Responsible for understanding and following all the required procedures and work instructions as required by Die-Matic Corporation's Employee Handbook, Drug-Free Safety Policy and with respect to DMC's Quality Systems Manual.
• Accurate calculations and cross checking of pressure requirements (blanking, stripping, bending, forming, drawing, etc.); flat blank layout dimensions (bend allowances, draw and area formulas "unfolding", etc.); clearances (cutting, drawing, heeling, etc.);
• Help identify and correct any design or data errors. Confidence in work is very important.
• Maintain accurate documentation (tool layout drawings, detail drawings, BOM entries, spare part specifications, and lists, etc.) and communicate need for any required and approved changes.

Qualifications:

• Six-plus years die making and die repair experience or four-plus years with a state approved apprenticeship completion.
• Must be capable of building and maintaining any stamping dies.
• Build experiences should be: Stamping dies; progressive, single stage, line and secondary operation.
• Transfer and deep draw die experiences are desirable.
• CNC experience (any operator/programmer/setup) in a tool room environment
• Gage, fixture, special machine building and tool & die welding experience is a plus.
