Tool Room/Machinist/CNC/Die Repair

Starting Rate $22.20 - $37.40 per hour depending on position and qualifications

Posting includes one or more of the following positions: Die Mold Repair, Machinist, CNC Setup, CNC Programmer, and Tool Maker

In These roles you may:

  • Analyze problems and make needed repairs and modifications to tools, dies and fixtures.
  • Clean dies and tools, remove drag, straighten cores, drills water lines, make slides, ejector pins, cores, and pinions, or grind in overflows and gates.
  • Remove castings stuck in dies; dismantle and reassemble tools and dies, or safely repair while still set in the casting machine.
  • Build/Construct alter, and repair dies, jigs, fixtures, special tools, and parts, dies, jigs or fixtures to extremely close tolerances
  • Set up, adjust and/or operate a variety of CNC metal/material removing machine tools such as machining centers, milling machines, lathes, screw machines, grinders, drill presses, to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work (including curved surfaces) to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high level of skill.
  • Exercise familiarity with and understanding of CNC program formats involving combinations of operations such as profile and contour milling and boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading etc., to the capacity of the machine and control factor.
  • Verify alignment and inspect for quality, defects, and deviations from specifications using a coordinate measuring machine and/or other gauges and precision measurement instruments applying principles of statistical process control.
  • Perform tool offsets using computerized equipment.
  • Work with blueprints and/or machine programming language and the axis system.
  • Instructs others on work instructions and specific techniques.
  • Inspect for quality, defects, and deviations from specifications.
  • Be responsible for quality of work and to appropriately resolve unusual operating conditions.
  • Be required to willingly modify work schedule and duties to accommodate Company needs. All other duties as assigned.
  • Occasionally operate a forklift.
  • Read and understanding English language work instructions


Minimum Skills/Experience:
one year in similar position, mechanical aptitude, effective computer use, basic math skills, independent decision-making, and effective self-management.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Above plus - Strong Computer and math skills, from 2 - 7+ years of relevant experience gained through on the job instruction, and/or apprenticeship programs and strong mechanical aptitude and an eye for detail as demonstrated through success at increasingly more complex assignments.

Functional Requirements

Consistently able to:

  • Manually lift and move product and materials up to 55 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch, and bend
  • Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering fork truck
  • Walk, sit, or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks
  • Push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • See, inspect, handle and evaluate product quality
  • Read and understand written English language work instructions
  • Work in non-climate controlled environments, including hot and humid conditions
  • Climb ladders and stairs of varying heights
  • Wear task-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by LSI

    • Additional PPE may as required by specific tasks
