As part of a passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will manage, maintain and setup cutting tools and fixtures for machining of precision aerospace tooling. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of setting up cutting tools per specified configurations, ordering cutting tools and kitting/staging all needed raw material, cutting tools, COTS items, and anything else that is required for the job. The Tooling Coordinator will act as the organizing force that will align the machinists, programmers, operators, and planner by coordinating and staging jobs at the right just the right work center at just the right time such that machinists and programmers can continue value add work without stoppage. The permanent location of this position is Huntsville, Alabama. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight!

Responsibilities:
  • Kit all jobs with raw material, cutting tools, COTS, and any other necessary items per a released work order
  • Move and handle organized kits, material, and subassemblies to correct locations at just the right time to prevent work stoppages
  • Order tools as required or needed for the machine shop
  • Maintain cutting tool and fixture inventory
  • Grind cutting tools as needed
  • Work to and improve setup documentation
  • Communicate with machinists, programmers, scheduler and designers
  • Support and/or perform process improvement projects
  • Maintain configuration control on files and job records
  • Safely work within an industrial environment
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a machine shop environment for level III
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a machine shop environment for level II
  • Knowledge of cutting tools and machine shop tooling applications
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, height gages and dial indicators
  • Go-getter attitude with that is both organized and quick to action
  • General inventory knowledge
  • Familiar with use of personal computers
  • Problem solving and attention to detail
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
  • Knowledge of common aerospace cutting tool coatings
  • Experience operating basic hand tools and grinders
  • Experience operating mills and lathes
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
  • Fluent in use of precision hand tools
  • Cutting tool length pre-setter experience
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware
  • Outside processing knowledge (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.)

Compensation range for on site CO applicants:
Associate - Production II is $26.57 - $38.97
Associate - Production III is $31.30 - $45.90
Compensation range for on site WA applicants:
Associate - Production II is $28.99 - $42.52
Associate - Production III is $34.14 - $50.07
Compensation range for on site CA applicants:
