Toolmaker 1

We are currently in search of a Toolmaker 1 to join our Industrial Engineering department of the Marquardt Group in our location Cazenovia (USA).

The Toolmaker 1 is responsible for machining parts from prints as well as repair and maintenance of injection molds when prints are not available. Hands on problem solving and basic design work.


Toolmaker 1 Essential Responsibilities:

  • Machining parts from drawings.
  • Ability to run all Toolroom machines at a fundamental level. Mills, lathes, grinders
  • Ability to learn & run EDM, CNC Machining centers, CNC lathe at a basic level.
  • Ability to use / learn CAM software to program parts for machining
  • Design and develop holding fixtures, create efficient set ups.
  • Ability to perform tool room work in a timely manner.
  • Serve as technical resource production coordinators, and other personnel as required.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Four year state certificate apprentice program and journeyman license
  • Associate’s degree with related experience.
  • Math skills - knowledge of shop / mechanical mathematics.
  • Basic computer skills. Ability to learn CAM software.
  • Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and production personnel.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, maintenance instructions, and detailed procedure manuals.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed required 10%.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing in excess of 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk on a regular basis and occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Ability to use close vision, color vision, and depth perception for extended periods..


Work Environment:

  • Employee is regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic chemicals.
  • Noise level in work environment is generally moderate.
  • Recycling is required.
