About This Role:*
This position is responsible for accurate transcription of information onto Pathology reports.
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Activities:*

• Accurate and efficient transcription of pathology gross description diagnoses and clinical information reviewing grammar, punctuation, and spelling prior to submission
• Handling of incoming and outgoing reports and slides for consultation
• Directing client phone calls to appropriate staff
• Calling clients for additional information when necessary
• Handling of incoming and outgo ing reports and slides for consultation
• Handling of cases sent out for testing
• Reporting of certain send-out results through the laboratory information system
• Working with the pathologists and cytology/histology manager to address departmental issues
• Accurate filing and maintenance of all completed slides, requisitions, and reports
• Entering of malignant case report into the NYS Cancer Registry
• Documentation of corrective action to problem cases
• Sending of follow-up letters to clients for HSIL pap interpretations, as designated by the manager, and documentation of information sent back
• Filing and maintenance of pathology records into designated binders

Education: High School Degree
Experience: 1 year of experience
Skills:
Word Processing
Medical terminology needed
Ability to type quickly and accurately
Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
