Apply now! CTI is hiring a Transload Operator to join our operations at the Port of Tucson.
The Transload Operator's primary responsibility is to safely and timely transload sulfuric acid from a train railcar into a tanker trailer using material moving equipment while observing loading levels. It is expected that the Transload Operator will have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies. May perform a variety of other tasks related to the transfer or shipment of products.
Hourly Pay + OT + Bonus = APPLY NOW..$$
Starting pay is $19/hr
Overtime pay eligible
$500 quarterly Safety Bonus
Job Site Location: Port of Tucson, 6964 E Century Park Dr, Tucson, AZ 85756
Work Schedule: 1:30 am - 10:30 am 5 days per week (unless otherwise specified by management)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid driver license
- Required to wear a full face respirator for certain tasks, which also requires that you are clean-shaven daily.
- Meet minimum background check requirements for CTI and worksite customer(s)
- Prior transloading experience is highly preferred.
- General knowledge of railroad operations & familiarity with brake systems on railcars, preferred
- Mechanical abilities to troubleshoot and isolate malfunctions preferred
- Successful controlled substance test at pre-employment
- Successful respirator physical, and respirator fit test

Abilities and Skills
- Varying work hours with 10-12 hour shift at least 5 days a week
- The shift may vary between day or night, but is consistent for the entire week
- Expect to unload 2 rail cars and deliver 8 loads of quicklime per shift
- Load the quicklime from the railcar to the semi or double trailers.
- Work outside at all times and be on your feet for extended periods
- Wear a face respirator and additional personal protective equipment (PPE) when required while performing tasks
- Other configurations of PPE are required at all times while on mine property
- Mechanical abilities to troubleshoot and isolate malfunction - Water system to supply eyewash and shower stations, generator, compressor
- Operation of basic hand tools
- Position the Transloader under the rail car to being the unloading process
- Report railcar status and loads delivered to specific sites
- Clearly communicate verbally, as well as electronically with FMI and CTI Inc. personnel Radio and text/e-mail
- Handle stressful situations, make quick decisions and react efficiently and safely
Physical Requirements
- This job is physically demanding.
- Ability to climb stairs - Transload Unit and Trailer for access to the dome lid area
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, push and or move up to 80 lbs
- Twisting, stretching, reaching, squatting, crawling on hands and knees & kneeling
- Consistent climbing of stairs and/or ladders, being hoisted in the air, working at elevations of 20 feet above the ground.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) requirements:
PPE is required and must be worn in accordance with company policy and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for each work site. PPE is typically issued by our safety department and may include but is not limited to:
- Hard hat with face shield
- Goggles/Spoggles
- Gloves
- Long sleeve shirt
- Reflective vest
- Hearing protection
- Respirator Mask (varies according to the work site)
- Steel toe boots (not supplied by CTI)
Acid operations are outside in the elements and require a chemical-resistant acid suit, rubber gloves, rubber boots, along with a full face respirator and any other required PPE to be worn at all times while in a “Hot Zone”.
Respirators: CTI employees are required to wear a full and/or half-mask respirator for any job task that requires a respirator. Respirators (PPE) are distributed by CTI and are used to protect employees from those occupational hazards caused by breathing contaminated air (harmful dust, fogs, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, or vapors). All CTI employees who are required to wear a respirator must be clean-shaven daily and in compliance with respirator protocols at all times.
