JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and dispatch product movements with professional efficiency
- Targa’s products are hazmat in nature and include LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), Condensate and Condensate Mixtures
- Become familiar with all Targa commodity groups and regions and develop:
- Working knowledge of trailer types, valves and fittings
- Working knowledge of product characteristics
- Working knowledge of origin and destination loading and unloading criteria and procedures
- Apply working knowledge to determine the most efficient deployment of drivers analyzing and evaluating:
- location of driver
- location of equipment
- predicted and real-time scenarios for transit routes and traffic patterns
- deadhead (empty mileage)
- driver qualifications
- urgency of required load
- product and trailer compatibility
- origin and destination
- Receive daily dispatch handoff from each Region Dispatcher and review and discuss pertinent details.
- Respond to all incoming calls and emails during shift, and re-schedule, prioritize and confirm loads and deliveries.
- Update load schedule and distribute changes to drivers as load requests change.
- Update Dispatch plan with any changes and redistribute to all stakeholders.
- Provide customer service by responding to all requests in less than 60 minutes.
- Track delivery status and communicate ETA’s and delays for all loads to appropriate stakeholders as needed.
- Troubleshoot and independently resolve routine issues that arise with shipments.
- Escalate serious issues to supervisor, and management as necessary.
- Use independent judgment to determine if demand requires a 3rd party carrier.
- Ensure that transport schedules meet the appropriate state DOT compliance regulations.
- Actively monitoring driver locations and hours of service and reporting any potential compliance issues.
- Become proficient in the use of Targa’s Truck Management Software
- Perform daily load reconciliation for completed loads.
- Complete administrative paperwork tasks, including but not limited to:
- 3rd party carrier invoice review
- Provide load completion data and periodic reports to customers.
- Develop and foster business relationships with dispatchers, drivers, marketing and other operations staff.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years prior dispatch or truck scheduling experience
- Adept at using Microsoft Excel; comfortable with creating new spreadsheets and familiar with pivot tables.
- Proficient with all other Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Able to work independently and be self-directed.
- Able to multi-task and be self-motivated to perform tasks working in a solo environment.
- High communication skills both written and verbal along with critical-thinking skills.
- Provide bi-weekly On-Call and Weekend coverage for Region Dispatch.
- Provide rotational holiday and vacation coverage for Region Dispatch.
- Please note: training for this role will be during the dayshift (7AM-4PM M-F). Length of training time will vary based on experience.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- 4 year degree in Business or Logistics from an accredited University
- Experience with Truck Management Software (Chorus Logistics and GeoTab)
- Previous experience with hazardous material logistics management & scheduling
- Prior experience with crude, condensate, liquefied petroleum gas and vacuum truck fluid operations
- Previous experience with Texas DOT rules and regulations
