Reports To: General Foreman
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This is a full-time year-round position. Work is performed under general supervision of the Arbor Care Manager. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
- Supervise and train tree crew and is responsible for planning daily work for crew.
- Enforces safe work practices, as experience, judgment, company policy, and OSHA specifies and conducts safety training in accordance with company policies and procedures. Determines when to start and stop work dependent on inclement weather conditions.
- Promotes and maintains good customer and public relations through effective completion of assigned work.
- Keeps accurate records, timesheets and reports related to the performance of the crew.
- Responsible for truck inspection, proper working conditions, as well as necessary repairs to tools, trucks and other work equipment. Requests major repairs or replacements when required. Maintains good housekeeping on truck and at worksite locations.
- Loads and unloads trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris and/or feeds brush into a woodchipper.
- Relays hand-signals, directs traffic, drives and operates trucks and equipment as assigned, and keeps trucks and work area clear and orderly.
- Ensures that tasks in connection with the maintenance, pruning, trimming, transplanting, and felling of trees are executed properly.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright and Wright Outdoor Solution’s culture of safety and employee ownership.
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

- Works around excessive noise from machines, chainsaws, woodchipper and must wear proper personal protective equipment.
- Is exposed to all temperatures and weather; will be exposed to nature, i.e., irritating plants, biting, or stinging insects, dust, etc.
- May work on rough terrain.
- Repairs slight damage to lawns, fences, and walks due to property damage on site
- Services gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment
- Position may require some outside travel.
- During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
- Has a minimum of 3 years’ experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews.
- Has a basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits and correct arboricultural techniques for the trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining, and removing, as applies to working in close proximity to energized conductors.
- Knows and understands the American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z133.1-2000).
- Must have valid driver’s license (Class A CDL), medical card and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks such as rain, heat, sun, cold, snow.
- Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors.
- Possess excellent leadership skills and ability to hand stress and multi-task.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The physical activities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing functions.
The position also often involves sedentary work where sitting is required most of the time, with occasional standing or walking. The position also requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must be able to perform activities with close visual acuity, such as reading a computer screen and reading print material. The functions of this position are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment.
INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find a resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with employees which may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise.
