Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities, such as cleaning and unloading collector retainers and operating equipment associated with the cleanup of construction materials.

What You’ll Do:

Promote Safety and Environmental Procedures. Take an active role in prioritizing safety and Vulcan’s environmental standards for yourself and others at all times while operating equipment in and out of the plant.

Operate Sweeper Truck and Equipment. Operate sweeper truck to clean loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, and/or other materials at aggregate and concrete operations, customer job sites, roadway spills, as well as driveways at various locations. Properly operate levers on trucks, cleaning brushes, remote vacuum, and sprinkler hoses.

Inspect Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Vulcan standards. Complete daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation with accuracy. Must be able to handle and understand Department of Transportation regulations, keeping all documentation up to date.

Maintain Equipment. Maintain truck and equipment performance through routine maintenance such as lubricating, checking vehicle fluid levels, and other minor maintenance. Routinely clean and service equipment used for cleaning. Report unsafe mechanical conditions to supervisor.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.


Skills You’ll Need:

Experience. Previous experience operating mobile sweeper, dump trucks or heavy construction equipment is preferred.

Ready to Drive. Must possess a commercial driver’s license and have a valid DOT physical or the ability to get one.

Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred. Experience with Department of Transportation rules and regulations for transporting heavy equipment is preferred.

Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

The salary is prescribed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement. With no previous experience, salary starts at $41.25/hr with an increase to $43.66/hr after successful completion of probation.

  • Experienced candidates will be placed according to union contract salary scale between $48.49/hr.
  • Full benefits package including health insurance, a pension plan, paid vacation.
  • This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
