Turret Assistant, 3rd Shift-Flowery Branch, GA
Job description
As the Turret Assistant you will support production within the finishing department. You will be responsible for improving the productivity of the individual rewind operators by eliminating the need for the rewind operator to leave their machine. Your daily tasks will include cutting cores, packing boxes, printing and applying core tags and case labels, as well as moving finished goods to the warehouse, and other jobs as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cut cores to length using the core cutter as needed.
- Supply turret rewinders with cores that are cut to the appropriate size in advance of them needing them.
- Supply turret rewinders with boxes for the jobs that they are running.
- Supply turret rewinders with all required supplies including (but not limited to): packaging tape, box labels, core labels, bags, and any other supplies they may need.
- Supply turret rewinders with pallets to put finished product on.
- Supply turret rewinders with their printed rolls of material in the proper sequence to meet customer ship dates.
- Assemble and tape boxes for the turret rewinders.
- Apply core tags to rolls, place rolls into boxes, pack boxes with packing material, tape boxes shut, apply box labels, and place finished product on pallets.
- Remove pallets/carts of finished goods and transport them to shipping.
- Assist in off-line packaging including counting of product to place in bundles, bundle packing, shrink wrapping, and stretch wrapping as needed.
- Assist press operators in similar activities as above for presses with turret rewinders. This will be based on direction from the shift supervisor when time permits. The primary focus will normally be the turret rewinders.
- Additional duties as required.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- High School or GED.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read work tickets and interpret written information to provide the proper supplies to the rewinders.
- Ability to do basic math (example: calculate number of cores needed for a job).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Training Requirements:
- Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent Lifting, standing, crouching, required.
- Minimum lifting requirement of 50 LBS on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to use a hand truck to move large pallets of material a distance of 50 to 100 yards.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening.
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
- Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Safety glasses are recommended in the production area.
