Regional Position between Waterbury Hospital and Eastern Connecticut Health Network
RATE OF PAY: $90.00/hour
- Additional compensation offered for a work commitment of 24-32 hours per week.
NOTE: All employees must be willing to rotate between Waterbury Hospital and Manchester Memorial Hospital.
SCOPE OF POSITION: Performs a variety of Ultrasound exams under the general direction and supervision of the Senior US Technologist, the Assistant Director of Radiology, and the Radiologist. Reports to Associate Director of Healthcare Staffing On Demand, LLC.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Registered in 0-1 certifications by the ARDMS (or equivalent/specialized certification).
- Properly identifies and prepares patient for the Ultrasound exam.
- Obtains optimal Ultrasound images.
- Utilizes proper equipment pertinent to exam and utilizes Cerner, HIS, RIS, and PACS.
- Assists physicians with biopsies, aspirations, transvaginal exams, OR exams, and other special procedures.
- Maintains adequate records of all Ultrasound exams including appropriate information.
- Maintains and cleans Ultrasound equipment and examination rooms in compliance with universal precautions.
- Completes general, unit, department specifics, and competencies including age specific competencies.
- Maintains required inventory of supplies.
- Coordinates and prioritizes in-house and outpatient requests.
- Responsible for patient's safety, well being, and privacy at all times.
- Maintains accreditation status with ACR standards.
- Instructs Ultrasound students in clinical procedures.
- Responsible for adhering to all radiation protection standards and for donning all radiation protection apparel inclusive of wearing and changing of current monitoring devices.
- Ability to disinfect all probes properly according to manufacturer requirements
- Performs similar and related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathological processes pertinent to diagnostic Ultrasound.
- Knowledge of Ultrasound techniques, tests, and procedures.
- Operation knowledge of Ultrasound equipment.
- Ability to make technical decisions to obtain the most accurate information of diagnosis.
- Ability to interact and communicate with patients, staff, and hospital personnel.
- Knowledge of blood borne pathogen and universal precautions.
- Ability to lift and pull patients, push stretchers, and able to stand and walk.
- Graduate of accredited program of Diagnostic Sonography approved by the American College of Radiology.
- Certified through the American Society for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) as RDMS (OB or AB), RT(S), RT (VS), RVT, or RVS). New Graduates must obtain RDMS certification within one year of hire or within 24 months of their graduation date, whichever is less.
- Must maintain all qualifications from the American College of Radiology accreditation requirements for Ultrasound and/or RT(S) continuing education requirements.
- Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.
- Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
- Employees are required to successfully complete mandatory education/training as assigned.
- It is the employee’s responsibility to complete and return all continuing education documents, i.e. certificates/forms by the posted due date to document knowledge of recent changes.
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of 24 hours per month, this includes (1) weekend shift equaling 8 hours or more.
- A maximum of 130 hours per month will be permitted.
- All employees must be willing to rotate between Waterbury Hospital and Manchester Memorial Hospital.
- The Central Scheduling Office will notify employee via the provided phone number if there is a need to change the assigned facility prior to the start of the shift. Employee will be notified of any change 2 hours prior to the start of the shift.
- Employees are required to work (1) holiday under Group A; and (1) date under Group B, per year, to meet the holiday commitment.
