Position Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist functions independently based on the boundaries of professional practice in performing all major work responsibilities. The technologist performs a wide variety of complex diagnostic testing in the disciplines of ultrasound and quality assurance. The technologist is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements.
Responsibilities/Job Description:
The Ultrasound Technologist-Clinic functions independently based on the boundaries of professional practice in performing all major work responsibilities. The Technologist provides services to patients and physicians through the creation of high quality diagnostic imaging, provides quality age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team. The technologist is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements (RDMS).
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures- Applies established professional guidelines and standards to complex, routine, and non-routine diagnostic testing procedures
- Participates as an active team member
- Correctly operates equipment according to accepted standards and guidelines
Required:
- Education at a level to be ARDMS registry eligible, including successful completion of sonography clinical requirements
- ARDMS registered in one specialty or ARRT RT (S) registered within 12 months of employment
- Additional registrations may be required within 12 months of employment for specific locations based on the site’s accreditations (for example: ACR, AIUM, IAC) and/or regulatory requirements
- Basic Life Support - must be current and from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Preferred:
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program
- 1 or more years of experince
- Current Registration with RDMS in a specialty area
