This is what you will do:

The US Medical Communications Lead (MCL) will work with US Medical Affairs (USMA) and Therapeutic Area Medical Teams and Leadership to establish a sound US Strategic Communication plan for the Metabolic+ US Franchise. This will include but is not limited to: Scientific Materials, Congress Planning, Training, and Insight Reporting for Metabolic +. This role will interface with cross-functional partners to ensure that the US Strategic Communication plan is structured to deliver on USMA Strategies.


The MCL responsibilities encompass activities that help drive the vision and purpose of the USMA department. The MCL will have ownership and oversight of the end-to-end process of submitting Scientific Materials to the Medical Review Committee in line with Metabolic+ strategy. The MCL will be key point of contact for MSL/Medical activities at Tier 1 Congresses, including: cross-functional planning, insight collection, reporting, and KPI tracking. MCL will align with Global Medical Training to deliver US new hire training, and where necessary design and/or implement advanced content or professional skills training. MCL will serve as a leader and facilitator for USMA training provided at live and virtual meetings (e.g. AKF). The MCL will advance harmonization of Metabolic+ Insight and KPI reporting. The MCL will be an active member of the Medical Excellence team and will both lead and guide innovative projects to benefit USMA. Where applicable, the MCL will also serve as a key member on Launch teams.


You will be responsible for:

  • Working with US Medial Affairs Leadership and TA Head to define the TA Strategic Communication Plan
  • Tracking and reporting key milestone metrics and KPIs to the Strategic Communication Plan
  • Working with TA leadership team to develop the TA Scientific Platform and translate into impactful tactics
  • Working with TA Head, Medical Directors, Global Medical Training and other leadership to develop a training strategy and content development
  • Working with TA Leadership Team to identify knowledge gaps in a systematic way (i.e., Annual unmet needs workshop)
  • Maintaining Scientific Material database and establish a routine approach for keeping materials current (including MSL decks and training decks).
  • Developing Monitoring cycle of the material data base for expirations and update materials in a timely manner
  • Maintaining inventory of all materials in alignment with global inventories to avoid duplicative materials and reviews
  • Managing vendor to upload all materials to review tool and ensure citations are complete
  • Owning review process with Medical Review Committee and prioritization of materials (escalating as needed)and act as proponent for all materials
  • Defining and maintaining training roadmap for field team in alignment with Global Training and HR (process should include leadership soft skills)
  • Developing new learning approaches to current business needs, including interactive, distance and virtual learning
  • Point of contact for legal and regulatory on review process/SOP changes and communication/training of those changes to the team
  • Onboarding all new US Medical Affairs employees on Scientific content within the Therapeutic Area
  • Vendor management of slide deck creation when needed
  • MSL training and distribution plan for new Med Info materials
  • Developing Launch readiness training plan
  • Maintaining MSL new hire mentorship program and monitor for success
  • Participating in MSL candidate presentations
  • Annual Kickoff Forum(AKF) planning and alignment with TA Leads and Global TA Leads on training requests for MSLs
  • Working with Corporate Communications and Global Medical Information to ensure the availability of a current corporate deck including a current pipeline slide
  • Aligning with Global US Medical Affairs on national and international congress coverage
  • Providing strategic congress coverage plan for all USMA employees and senior leadership in conjunction with TA leadership, Medical Directors and MSLs
  • Running congress debrief meetings onsite aligned with global for senior leadership rapid reporting
  • Producing full congress insights report aligned with global or in conjunction with global

You will need to have:

  • PharmD/MD/PhD
  • 5 + years relevant pharma/biotech industry experience
  • Training or Teaching-Related Experience, including experience with distance learning preferred

We would prefer for you to have:

  • Previous MSL experience preferred
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Exceptional facilitation skills, and the ability to stand and deliver training as well as coordinate outside resources
  • Strong computer skills
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Experience writing assessment questions preferred
  • Approximately 30% travel required.
