NaphCare is hiring an experienced Utilization Management (UM) Assistant to join our team at the Corporate Office located in Birmingham, AL.

The Utilization Management Assistant is responsible for performing clerical and administrative duties to support the overall function of the UM Department. This position will work closely with the Director of UM Administration & Network Development (Jail Division). The assistant is responsible for effective communication flow between departments. Additionally this person will be responsible for data collection, data entry, and data verification. This role requires excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Position Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; some college experience preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of healthcare experience
  • Good communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interact positively with outside clients, providers, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, and exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making to achieve organizational objectives

Performance Expectations:

  • Collect, document, and upload contracts and W-9 Forms accurately and efficiently
  • Use Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, to prepare reports and correspondence as needed
  • Use other internal software
  • Transmit correspondence and medical records via mail, email or fax
  • Perform various clerical and administrative functions
  • Works closely with the UM Team to support their administrative needs
  • Proactively take action to solve problems and meet established goals
  • Demonstrate professionalism
  • Build relationships with supervisors, internal staff, and external providers
