Job Title: Baker
Reports To: Blackstreet Bakery Program Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt / Part Time (up to 20 hours per week) / Temporary
Pay Grade: $18.50 per hour
SUMMARY: The Baker position will join a team of Bakers involved with Blackstreet Bakery. They will be responsible for working with a team to bake and package vegan baked products of consistent and high quality.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete all necessary check-lists, production, and shrink logs as directed.
• Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
• Weighing flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
• Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes.
• Ensure all baked goods are completed on time and meet quality standards.
• Ensure all packaging is consistent and clean.
• Track food supplies and alert Bakery Program Manager for restocking needs
• Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers
• Work assigned special events and markets. Provide excellent customer service to patrons.
• Clean kitchen equipment and tools before and after use. Ensure the kitchen area is neat and sanitary at all times.
• Maintaining a safe and hygienic worksite, and following all proper food handling procedures at all times.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Highly developed interpersonal skills, including excellent oral, written and listening communication
• Integrity, credibility, and passion for supporting the communities Brown Hope serves
• Previous baking experience preferred
• Ability to read and follow recipes
• Good organizational skills
• Good time management
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Knowledge of basic math skills is preferred
• Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred
• Must be able to adhere to health and safety regulations
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Must possess a valid Food Handlers Card
• Serv Safe Certification preferred
• Cooperative and collaborative team members. Ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner with all customers, co-workers, stakeholders, community members and other business partners.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is usually conducted in indoor environments, with long periods standing. Work
may be conducted outdoors and employees may be exposed to inclement weather.
Position requires interaction with standard kitchen equipment, including ovens, knives,
and electric mixers. Work is oriented to community service and subject to constant
work interruptions. Position requires the employee to regularly communicate with
community members and co-workers. Employees may work under the stress of
following exact instructions and pressure to meet deadlines. Requires flexible work
schedule and may be required to work evenings and weekends. Must occasionally lift
and/or move up to 25 pounds. Position may require the ability to travel regionally for
work activities.
