Vehicle Technical Mechanic- 8hr (Transportation/PC#251227)
Position Summary: Performs a variety of major and minor mechanical work the repair, overhaul, body and fender fabrication, and general maintenance of automotive, heavy-duty, and other power equipment. Diagnoses problems and makes repairs, replacing worn parts and/or machining new parts, for engines, ignition and electrical, fuel-air-exhaust, cooling, power train, steering and braking, and passenger safety systems.

Salary: $28.11 - $37.15 per hour in 9 annual steps. Salary placement is based on experience.

Hours: 8 hours/day; 5 days/week
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Employee Life Insurance available for employees who work 4+ hours per day (Full district contribution for 6+ hours/day; 50% contribution for 4-5.99 hours/day).
Experience and Education
The position typically requires a high school diploma and 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of vehicles including heavy gasoline and diesel powered equipment. Alternatively, the position may require an Associate’s degree in an automotive technology area and 3 years of recognized industry experience.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid certifications to meet CBAR or ASE training requirements in the following areas: engine repair, engine performance, braking, and electrical/electronic systems. Requires a Class B driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a forklift certificate.
