Uintah Pet Emergency is searching for the Veterinary Assistant to join our amazing Team – could that be you?

About Us: Located in beautiful Colorado Springs with an amazing view of Pikes Peak right outside our front door - We are a well-established, 6 doctor, 7 day a week, 365 day a year, emergency facility for canine and feline patients. We are a growing practice dedicated to providing top quality critical and emergency care with state-of-the-art full in-house diagnostic labs, a modern surgical suite, full in-house pharmacy, and nursing suite. At Uintah Pet Emergency creating and maintaining a supportive, educational, and balanced culture is extremely important to us. Team building and support is our JAM! We host in-house continuing education, as well as taking the fun outside the clinic doors for team building events! Past events include go-kart racing, painting with a twist, escape rooms, and team dinners. Receptionists are a VITAL part of our care team and allow us to continue to grow and support the community’s furry friends. We have a diverse team with a variety of experiences and skill sets. It is vital we work together and take initiative to help each other where needed for the best of our patients. Our team promotes a safe environment to not only ask questions but voice your opinion. We want to know your thoughts, ideas, questions, and suggestions!

Our Assistants use their medical knowledge and clinical skills to provide a gold standard of care to each and every one of our patients. They have traditional roles in obtaining history and vitals, assisting with diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures and maintaining accurate records. They are relied upon to support our doctor(s), and technicians.

  • Schedule – Flexible scheduling!
    • Clinic is open 7 days per week, 12pm-12am – with goals of expanding these hours to 8am-2am in the near future!
    • 3x12hr & 4x10hr shifts available, one weekend day required
    • Weekend shift differential provided & time-and-a-half paid on holidays

About You:


  • Must be a team player, easily approachable, friendly, professional, and courteous
  • Excellent communication skills- comfortable relaying important medical information to both clients, Drs, and team members
  • Performs calmly and skillfully under highly stressful/emergent situations
  • Gathering patient history from owners
  • Admit and treat hospitalized patients
  • Counsel clients regarding home care, medication administration and post-operative care
  • Perform radiographic exposures
  • Administering medication
  • Collecting samples such as blood, tissues and urine samples
  • Cleaning and disinfecting veterinary facilities, including cages, examination and kennels
  • Restraining animals for examinations and lab procedures
  • Providing care before and after surgery and medical procedures
  • Sterilizing and maintaining surgical equipment and instruments
  • Fill prescriptions and prepare medications as prescribed by veterinarian
  • Able to communicate with distressed clients in a calm, compassionate manner, de-escalating emotional situations with worried clients
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Reliable: shows up for shifts on time and ready to be a team player
