Job DescriptionReports To:
Clinical Licensed Veterinary Technician Supervisor
Position Objectives:
Assist the Veterinarians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT), and other members of the hospital support staff in a variety of zoo veterinary hospital duties.
Principal responsibilities include:
1. Cleaning up after animal procedures and maintaining overall cleanliness of procedure rooms in the Wildlife Health Center (WHC).
2. Restocking and inventory of all medical supplies.
3. Post-operative cleaning and processing of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
4. Assist LVTs in gathering equipment and loading vehicles for field procedures.
5. Assist LVTs in preparing for in-hospital procedures and daily patient treatments.
6. Assist in the inventory, stocking, and monitoring of non-controlled pharmaceuticals in WHC.
7. Assist in the final processing of laboratory paperwork.
8. Assist in the preparation of biological specimens for shipping to multiple reference labs.
9. Assist in any other duties as assigned by the Licensed Veterinary Technicians or Veterinarians.
10. Contribute to and uphold the Society’s policies toward Equal Employment Opportunities for women, minorities, veterans, the handicapped, and other protected groups.
Qualification Requirements
Education Requirement:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
Skills Requirement:
1. Work effectively in a complex, multi- veterinarian, multi-technician clinical veterinary care setting.
2. Ability to work as part of a team, communicate efficiently, and maintain a high level of organization in a fast paced environment.
3. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
4. Computer proficiency with PC and Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
