Job description
Position Summary:
The Vice President of Operations oversees overall operations for an assigned group of hotels. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of regional strategies for meeting goals in the areas of revenue generation, market share performance, guest satisfaction scores, associate opinion scores, and net operating income.
Responsibilities
- Develop short term action plans and long range planning for new programs and strategies that impact the hotels based on the existing corporate directed goals and any new goals that are created
- Develop annual business plans for assigned hotels
- Effectively manage the people resources of the corporation to meet the needs of the organization including career development
- Provide day-to-day support to our hotels
- Create and maintain positive, professional working environments in all hotels
- Travel is required at least 75% of the time. Individual property visits to each hotel at least once each quarter.
- Interview, hire and train General Managers and Directors of Sales
- Coach and council all management and associates
- Insure that all safety and brand standards are maintained.
- Assist the NHG corporate team and on site team and the development of the annual business plan.
- Meet with owners periodically and review future plans and current operational results.
- Evaluate performance of hotels and make impactful changes.
- Assist with take over and opening of new properties.
- Assist hotel management and teams in successful completion of all goals, plans and reports
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Physical Demands: Requires walking and standing to a significant degree, as individual must inspect all areas of the hotels. Requires ability to move fingers and hands easily and quickly. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing to guests and resort staff. Requires ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
Environmental Conditions: Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Inside 95% and Outside 5% inspecting grounds, monitoring cleanliness and maintenance.
Essential Skills: High ethical standards, analytical ability, excellent communicator. Diverse experiences in sales, management and administration. Knowledgeable of all company policies and procedures included but not limited to accounting, human resources, operations and sales.
Educational/Vocational Preparation: Bachelor’s degree in Hotel/Restaurant management or business: however, ability gained through 5+ years previous management experience/on-the-job training may substitute for degree.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hotel/Restaurant management or Marketing (combination of vocational sales training and /or on-the-job training may substitute for degree)
- Select and full service experience required
- Five years above property operations experience required
- Fluent English-speaking and writing skills
- Seasoned management/supervisory skills
- Outstanding leadership qualities
- Strong computer and Internet skills
- Outstanding moral, ethical character
