JOB SUMMARY:

The Volunteer & Partnerships Coordinator is responsible for volunteer program management and the development, cultivation, and stewardship of external partnerships in business and higher education. This role directly engages with, solicits, and provides quality experiences for current and prospective volunteers and partners. Partners include members of LEAP’s Business Partner Network, and community businesses or higher education institutions seeking collaborative opportunities, such as intern placements or programming collaboration. In this role, the Coordinator works to fill programmatic and organizational needs with appropriate volunteer or partner engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Volunteer Management: Develops volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and management processes across all LEAP departments. Maintains and grows volunteer base through outreach to individuals, colleges/universities, and businesses. Works with the development team to identify prospective donors for potential volunteer engagement. Works with program teams to identify and fill new volunteer needs, and review and assess fit of current volunteers. Engages with existing volunteers, collects feedback and recommends appropriate changes, and provides relevant training opportunities on a regular basis.
  • Business Partner Network Management: Serves as an ambassador for LEAP’s Business Partner Network with prospective companies and organizations. Understands program and fundraising needs that can be supported by business partners. Schedules and coordinates meetings with current and prospective partners to share about opportunities with LEAP, and advises them on best ways to engage through curriculum development, workshops, and guest speaking opportunities, for example. Communicates regularly with the development team on engagement.
  • Budgets & Fundraising: Tracks expenses and operates within approved budget parameters, and supports the development team in meeting annual budgeted fundraising goals through cultivation of volunteer and partner relationships and invitation to fundraising activities.
  • Data and Evaluation: Ensures volunteer and business partner records, including volunteer hours and other key information, are up to date in Little Green Light in order to report out.
  • Communication: Responds to the needs of staff, students, families, and community members, as it relates to volunteer or partner engagement, in a timely and thoughtful manner. Work with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to create clear messaging for the community as it relates to opportunities for volunteering or partnership at LEAP. Maintains ongoing communications with volunteers through newsletters and print materials.
  • Staff Collaboration: Creates collaboration and coordination processes that assure all staff are timely and effectively informed of LEAP policies and issues related to volunteers and partnerships. Establishes an environment in which all staff members are comfortable and forthcoming in sharing their ideas, needs and concerns, and in which the staff collaboratively works together to seek solutions and resolutions.

SKILL AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-4+ years relevant experience OR 3-5 years of relevant experience in relationship building, partnership development, or volunteer management required
  • Computer skills required: Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Google Docs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Works with little supervision, but work is reviewed. Exercises discretion within the area of responsibility.
  • Advises others within the organization on matters within their area of expertise.
  • Receives volunteer/partner/colleagues questions and responds within prescribed areas of knowledge. Will have frequent, direct contact with current and prospective donors.
  • Position is indirectly responsible for generating revenue. Success in the role will have a meaningful impact on raising crucial new funding for LEAP’s mission and student support programs
  • Decisions or actions may have a moderate impact on other departments and/or external relationships of the organization. Errors are usually detected after the fact and may result in moderate interruption and delay in work output.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the work of others (volunteers, interns, partners) within the area of responsibility

SUCCESS METRICS

  • Number of and hours contributed by volunteers and interns
  • Satisfaction and retention rates of volunteers from year to year
  • Business Partner Network growth and level of engagement
  • Number of business partners (not yet in the network) engaged with LEAP and level of engagement

Travel

  • Minimal, occasional local travel involved for events, meetings, and partner visits; less than 25% travel is required.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
