POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President of Finance has accountability for financial management, external and internal financial reporting, internal control, grant compliance, procurement, and payroll services for the Association. This position has primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, managing, and controlling all accounting related activities of the Association.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Contributes to the development of the Association’s strategic goals and objectives, as well as the overall management of the organization.
  • Advises senior management on financial, tax, and business planning issues.
  • Maintains continuous and proactive lines of communication, keeping the CFO and Executive team informed of all critical financial issues.
  • Oversees, directs, and organizes the work of the Accounting and Procurement teams.
  • Leads and grow the procurement function to align with the Association’s strategic goals.
  • Cultivates a strong working relationship with peers in Financial Services and across the organization.
  • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning, commitment to quality and customer service.
  • Assists or leads projects related to implementation, improvement, or upgrade of financial systems.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the month end closing and financial statement production, the annual audit process, single audit, and completion of 990 and YUSA Annual Financial Reports.
  • Oversees compliance with grant requirements, including awards from local, state, and federal governments.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and coaches Accounting, Payroll and Procurement staff.
  • Oversees and directs improvements to financial policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining accounting records in accordance with GAAP, oversight for all tax matters (nonprofit status, payroll taxes, sales taxes, property taxes).
  • Works collaboratively with staff in the Treasury and FP&A teams.
  • Performs special projects as requested by CFO.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant with active license.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the financial management of nonprofits or a significant corporate entity.
  • Auditing experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills, including mentoring, coaching, and leading a diverse team.
  • Ability to operate as both an effective tactical leader and strategic thinker.
  • Sophisticated skill level in MS Office.
  • Experience with NetSuite or other cloud based financial reporting tools a plus.
  • Experience with Federal Grants and Single Audit requirements a plus.
  • Team player with excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to confidently interface with senior management, volunteer groups and staff.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle and travel to events as needed/required
  • Occasional travel; occasionally overnight, may be necessary.
