VP of SALES - Tommy's Boats

Location: Downtown Grand Rapids, MI

Status: Permanent, Full-Time, Salary, Exempt

Experience/Seniority: Management

In-Office/Remote: This position is not open to 100% remote work and you must be able to regularly commute to our office in Grand Rapids, MI (downtown).

Travel: Yes, approximately 75%; regular presence at all of our Tommy's locations, nationwide.


SUMMARY

The VP of Sales responsibilities include overseeing the daily sales activities, designing effective sales strategies, and leading the team to exceed market share objectives. To be successful as a VP of Sales, you should have good leadership skills and the ability to motivate the team to significantly increase sales. Ultimately, a top-notch VP of Sales should have an in-depth knowledge of the market and have excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.


Simplified Investments is a holding company for Tommy's Boats, Gen3 Aerospace & Defense, and Gen3 Interconnect.

  • Tommy’s Boats is a Malibu/Axis boat dealership with a sales department, service center, and wake/surf pro shop. We have 15+ locations including Michigan, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Tennessee and California. Tommy’s is a rapidly growing company that continues to focus on acquisitions all around the United States.
  • Gen3 Defense & Aerospace is an engineering, manufacturing and supply chain solution provider with a facility in the Grand Rapids area. Our primary focus is on complex integration, robotics and automation. Gen3 Defense and Aerospace is part of a larger portfolio of businesses with a strong support network and proven track record of success in several markets.
  • Gen3 Interconnect is a start-up engineering, manufacturing and supply chain solution provider in the wire harness industry. We are setting up a state-of-the-art wire harness facility with the best equipment available in the market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The VP of Sales is responsible for setting sales goals and developing strategies to reach those targets
  • Identifying where improvements can be made and develop teams that generate customer traffic and strong customer relationships
  • Managing sales teams and motivating sales associates to reach their targets
  • Creating and maintaining relationships, including frequently traveling and being on-site at our dealerships.
  • Recruiting and hiring sales staff and developing training programs
  • Participate in the creation of sales budgets
  • Holding team members accountable for utilizing CRM and tracking activities that generate results
  • Creating and presenting sales forecasts
  • Participating in quarterly reviews with OEM on market share performance
  • Reviewing customer activity, anticipating consumer needs, and improving customer satisfaction.
  • Creating sales reports and providing feedback to the leadership team at company meetings.
  • Working with the marketing department to design promotional materials for the company's products and services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred
  • Master's degree in a business-related field may be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in a sales leadership position.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience working in a selling role and with sales technology and CRM software.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a senior (C-level) leadership role may be advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods, as well as employee motivation techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of the company's products, competitive products, and the market.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Great strategic planning, organizational, and creative thinking skills.
