Warehouse Supervisor

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for Warehouse Supervisor to join our Specialty ingredients G.P., business at our Hopewell, VA location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company, and the Logistics functions. This position will report to the Logistics Leader.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Manages volume and work through supervision of employee movement to meet all service, cost and quality requirements

• Train and develop new employees that enter into the order processing group

• Maintain and update work procedures for the order processing staff as needed

• Assist in the development and maintenance of work instructions for the warehouse operators.

• Assist Logistics Leader with evaluating employee performance

• Process returned material shipments in SAP

• Investigate and respond to customer complaints, along with implement all corrective actions

• Oversee finished product cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy

• Conduct and participate in operational and quality audits

• Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative or adjust existing work procedures and practices

• Provide support and local oversight for off-site warehousing of plant materials

• Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety

• Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

• 3+ years directly related experience in a manufacturing/distribution setting.

• 3+ years hands on experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

• Demonstrated supervisory experience, with increasing leadership responsibilities.

• Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint software.

• Proven sense of urgency with high level of energy required to handle a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to prepare documents with a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, in a professional manner.

• Ability to effectively lead cycle counts and other related activities.

• Ability to communicate recommendations for improvement, and enforcement of warehouse standard operating procedures.

• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Possess punctuality and reliability to meet work schedule.

• Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times

• The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related field.

• Proven experience researching and resolving customer complaints.

• Ability to work with multiple cross functional teams.

• Experience working with and adding data to SAP.

• Experience working within a union environment.
