ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT
The Jeffco Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) department provides Jeffco students with access to healthy and nutritious meals to support their learning. Each year, the FNS team serves approximately 4.5 million lunch meals, 1 million breakfast meals, and generates about $5.5 million in a la carte sales. The FNS team consists of over 400 employees who serve our students in more than 140 full-service kitchens and a central warehouse. FNS administers many programs, including the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs, Afterschool Snacks, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable programs and Summer Food Service Programs. Hourly Rate: $18.43, Annual Rate: $38,355.16 Effective as of: 08-16-2021
**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY: Perform warehouse functions related to picking, packing, loading, unloading, stocking product, order fulfillment, and inventory control. Performs minor maintenance on equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Ensure accuracy in order fulfillment using documents from FNS inventory software system.
Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet movers, carts, hand tools used in loading and unloading items from trucks, while picking, packing, preparing orders for shipment and stock shelves.
Perform physical count of food warehouse stock during scheduled inventories or as assigned. Perform duties related to inventory control, receiving, distribution and issuing of stock and non-stock items in compliance with District and department procedures.
Operate and perform minor preventative maintenance on trucks, forklifts, pallet movers, and other equipment as needed to insure that vehicles/equipment/tools/machinery/safety devices meet safety and DOT standards.
Take turns being on-call to respond to after-hours warehouse/FNS-related emergencies.
Perform housekeeping tasks on warehouse grounds to maintain a clean/safe working environment. Assist with training new employees in all functions of the FNS warehouse.
Perform special projects, deliveries or other duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required and/or vocational school or short-term courses.
EXPERIENCE: 2 - 3 years' experience in food warehousing preferred, including forklift and pallet mover operation, customer service, driving, and 1 year of inventory control.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Must have interpersonal communication, basic math, problem solving and listening skills. Able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions. Operating knowledge of and experience with forklifts, pallet movers, lift gates, dock plates, pallet jacks and driving experience with warehouse delivery size trucks preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Valid Colorado Driver's License and clean driving record. Must pass District Pre-Employment physical. Subject to random/post-accident/reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Act as a resource for new hires by providing training. Also may act as a resource for individuals within department regarding status of orders, inventory, delivery schedules, and assisting in resolving customer service issues throughout the District.
CONTACTS: Daily contact with persons within department to handle routine internal matters, with persons outside the department to provide service, with vendors to furnish or obtain information, and the general public to maintain relationships pertaining to the FNS Warehouse.
SAFETY TO SELF AND OTHERS: High exposure to self to cuts and bruises due to handling materials and boxes, and to hernia due to lifting heavy material and boxes, low exposure to self to chemical burns due to batteries in vehicles; to heat burns due to inspecting hot equipment engines, medium exposure to fractured bones due to operating warehouse equipment and falling material, medium exposure to repetitive motion injuries due to frequent lifting and reaching, medium exposure to diseases from improper handling or storage of food items, and low/medium exposure to loss of limb, sight, disfigurement or fatality when performing delivery duties (auto accidents).

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to compare, analyze, communicate, coordinate, and use interpersonal skills. The employee is occasionally required to copy, instruct, compute, synthesize, compile, and negotiate.
JUDGMENT AND DECISION MAKING: Work is assigned by Warehouse Manager. This position requires knowledge of the warehouse order process and attention to detail to pick and pack order correctly and to question orders that appear to be incorrect. Decision-making is guided by District and department policies and procedures, USDA and State Guidelines for Food Handling and Accountability. Decisions require collaboration with Group Leaders and other warehouse workers. Errors in decision-making could include picking/packing an order incorrectly, resulting in an overage or underage and additional time to correct the error. Supervisor is occasionally involved in decision-making.
DIVERSITY OF DUTIES: Duties require cross training in warehouse purchasing, basic mechanical repairs, record keeping and order processing knowledge. Responsibilities are within the immediate department.
