We are currently seeking a Warranty Technician to join the team in our State College office. The Warranty Technician is responsible for completing warranty work and assisting the Warranty Manager and Service Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Understands and completes service work in accordance with Berks Homes’ warranty policies
  • Determines if warranty service work should be performed by Berks Homes Warranty Technician or applicable subcontractor
  • Records all follow up work from home visit and issues service orders to the applicable subcontractors
  • Contacts homeowner within 2 business days of receipt of warranty request from Warranty Manager or Warranty Office Staff for scheduling
  • Completes warranty lists within 30 days of initial visit with considerations made due to unforeseen weather issues or work material backorders
  • Makes every effort to return phone calls and time-sensitive emails from homeowners within 24-48 hours
  • Maintains organized information and updates of on-going service orders in BuildPro
  • Maintains an organized and accurate schedule of appointments utilizing MS Outlook and BuildPro
  • Reviews and discusses status of open warranty items during weekly warranty meetings
  • Works with the Senior Superintendent/Quality Advisor in identifying and solving recurring problems
  • Assists Field staff as needed
  • Participates in the emergency on-call rotation
  • Assists Warranty Manager and Warranty Service Manager with all warranty related correspondence including but not limited to legal and insurance matters
  • Maintains company issued van including but not limit to: routine oil changes and maintenance, weekly inspection of vehicle to ensure safe and proper operation (check oil level/tire pressure etc.…), keep vehicle clean to represent the Warranty Department and BH in a professional manner always
  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/COMPETENCIES:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 2 or more years of general construction and carpentry experience required
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers required
  • Ability to work with customers/homeowners in a professional manner required
  • Ability to take initiative and responsibility required
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving required
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver’s license

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Professional office setting with frequent visits to homeowner’s residences. The hours are Monday through Friday, eight hours per day with a mandatory minimum thirty-minute lunch break. Occasionally, this position requires later hours to cater to workload. When company vehicle is not provided the employee must provide his/her own vehicle to perform duties. Vehicle must be able to haul equipment and supplies such as ladders, trim, etc. This position requires travel to various customer homes. Travel time is approximately 80%.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires the ability to lift to 80 lbs., bend, squat, kneel, stand, walk, reach, pull, push, twist, climb and to sit for extended periods of time and in different climates
  • Frequently, you must be able to read and comprehend, write effectively and professionally, perform minor calculations, orally communicate with all levels within the organization, reason and analyze data.
  • The main equipment/machinery used is an iPad, telephone, power tools, and hand tools.
