Gannett Fleming is looking for a dynamic Wastewater Process Engineer offering strong technical expertise to join our Water Business Line. Successful candidates will use their technical abilities to plan and design wastewater treatment plants in a dynamic team setting as well as to mentor junior staff.
Our firm’s Water Business Line, currently comprised of nearly 150 professionals, evaluates and optimizes the ability of all types and sizes of water and wastewater facilities to assist our clients in successfully satisfying local, state and U.S. EPA regulations. Existing and emerging technologies are utilized to achieve innovative and practical designs. Key wastewater projects include master planning/studies, biological and physical treatment, wastewater collection and conveyance, wastewater reclamation and reuse, biosolids and residuals management, industrial pretreatment, modeling, and instrumentation/SCADA. Many of our projects have won state and national awards and the volume of our work routinely ranks us among the top 20 U.S. water firms, top 30 “pure designers,” and top 40 “green design” firms according to ENR. Additionally, our professionals serve a multitude of local, state, national, and international organizations as active leaders.
Our Water/Wastewater business with offices in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida serve clients throughout all of our geographic regions. We offer a full range of engineering services to the municipal and industrial wastewater industry, including system planning, alternatives analysis, biological process and treatment facility design, and biosolids treatment, handling and disposal systems. The successful candidate(s) will use their technical ability to lead project development and delivery efforts in a dynamic team setting across all office centers.

Option for hourly or full-time. If full-time, approximately 20-40% of your time will be spent on Process Engineering for Wastewater Treatment Plants and the other 60-80% will be spent assisting with project execution.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leading process design teams in the study, planning and design of municipal/industrial wastewater treatment processes.
- Client interaction, including presentations and project coordination.
- Coordinating work activities by various technical staff and consultants.
- Preparation of reports and studies.
- Growing and developing a process design team and mentoring staff.
- Demonstrate professional technical writing and verbal skills.
- Involvement in the engineering industry in general and especially in the wastewater industry.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participates with business development activities.
- Staying apprised of the latest in emerging process technologies, research and practical application to our client base.
- BS in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (MS is preferred).
- 10+ years of experience required in wastewater discipline, particularly biological treatment process design and operations.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Wastewater treatment facility process design for a broad range of facility capacities.
- Experienced in process modeling with BioWin and/or GPS-X.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report and study preparation.
