Job Title: Welding Technician
Duration: 12 Month+
Location: Georgetown, KY
DESCRIPTION:
- The primary responsibility of this role is to support the development and implementation of joining technologies in North America, as well as to establish best practices and process standards for innovative technology development.
- Reporting to the Body PE Technical Administration Joining Group Manager, the person in this role will support the Body PE department's objective of providing new technology processes to the manufacturing facilities which meet all targets for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost and Compliance, while continuously improving our processes.
Job responsibilities:
- Maintain and support a safe workplace and culture as a primary responsibility.
- Promote an inclusive and respectful workplace.
- Conduct testing for various joining methods including spot welding (steel and aluminum), laser welding, dispense (sealer/adhesive), etc.
- Perform mechanical testing and other destructive and non-destructive testing. Create test reports.
- Coordinate and manage outside testing as needed.
- Operate test equipment (including but not limited to sectional saw, tensile tester, ultrasonic tester, polisher, microscopes, etc.).
- Manage lab equipment and calibration requirements, maintain calibration procedures.
- Develop training tools, work instructions and other standards.
- Proactively support technology development and introduction activity.
- Manage records related to North America technology implementations.
- Continually develop and improve lab capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Overtime up to 30%
- Travel up to 40%, domestic & international
Requirements:
Background requirements:
- Associate's Degree (or higher) in a relevant field (Welding, Metallurgy, Engineering, Robotics, Automation, etc.) OR 3 years of equivalent technical work experience
- Proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint) Intermediate
- Previous lab or other industry testing experience
Additional desirable experience:
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in a relevant field (Welding, Metallurgy, Engineering, Robotics, Automation, etc.)
- Machining/fabrication experience
- 3D CAD experience
- Automotive experience
- Knowledge of automotive body structure and manufacturing methods
- PLC experience (ToyoPUC, Omron, Allen Bradley)
