Job description
SUMMARY
Primarily installs components assemblies and electrical wiring in control panels according to wiring diagrams for shipment. Also responsible for the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Lays out diagram for electrical installations according to wiring specifications.
  • Drills and taps holes in specified locations for mounting control units.
  • Attaches breakers, relays, contactors, bus bars, transformers, plugging devices, fuse blocks and others to mounting holes with bolts and screws.
  • Cuts, strips, bends, and mounts wires to connect electrical units.
  • Inspects and tests completed electrical assemblies as required.
  • Boxes or bags products as required.
  • Affixes labels to product.
  • Insures completeness of paperwork.
  • Forwards completed orders to shipping department.
  • Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with supervisor or engineer to clarify assembly issues
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Mechanical and electrical aptitude. Ability to read and understand basic motor starter wiring diagram. Knowledgeable of basic hand tools and measuring devices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two year certificate from college or technical school; or 1 – 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
