IowaWORKS is looking for a new member to join its leadership team for the Mason City American Job Center! As a Workforce Manager, you’ll motivate, guide, mentor and develop staff working in our centers to provide high level services for our customers. In this position, you will be leading a team of workforce professionals to provide job seekers the necessary skills to reach their goals and employers with a pipeline of talent.

Job duties include but are not limited to:


  • Oversees IowaWORKS programs and policies in the Mason City location – under the integrated service delivery system, as they apply to the design and operations of the One-Stop Centers.
  • Establishes good working relationships and serves as liaison with other community agencies, training providers and business associations to ensure effectiveness of the service delivery system.
  • Facilitates understanding of the vision for the IowaWORKS system and create strategic implementation plan for IowaWORKS services. Creates work processes for the delivery of integrated services within local areas.
  • Supervises and evaluates the work of a staff. Recommends personnel actions related to selection, disciplinary procedures, performance, leaves of absence, grievances, work schedules and assignments, and administers personnel and related policies and procedures. Acts as a key step in all hiring decisions for assigned staff.
  • Develops a thorough knowledge and understanding of all IowaWORKS program laws, regulations and policies to ensure proper implementation within the workforce delivery system.
  • Maintains regular and frequent contact with Local Workforce Development Boards to provide updates and data on the progress of implementation of the integrated system and get necessary feedback for system and service development.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and the equivalent of four years of full-time professional level experience in program administration, development, management or operations;

OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the equivalent of one year full-time required work experience for one year (thirty semester or equivalent hours) of the required undergraduate course work to a maximum substitution of four years;
OR
graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major emphasis in Business or Public Administration and three years of the qualifying experience;
OR
substitution of a Master's degree in Public or Business Administration for one year of the above experience;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of one year of full-time work as an Executive Officer 1 or two years of full-time work as a Workforce Advisor.
