The Company:
In 1991, brothers Troy and Torrey Lautenbach started a small company in Bellingham, Washington to recycle construction waste. 30 years later, Lautenbach Recycling is one of the region’s premier employers and the largest family-owned recycling company in Washington State. We are actively looking for team members that are looking for more than just a job and desire to be part of our growth and future.
The Position:
We are searching for a hard-working and motivated person who enjoys working outdoors to join our operations team as a yard hostler/jockey. The perfect candidate will enjoy working in a fast paced, very physical environment in which moving roll off boxes and trailers, dumping materials from boxes and setting up trucks are part of your daily duties. We are an active construction and demolition recycling facility so being comfortable around equipment such as excavators and loaders is essential. This position is a great avenue to gain experience and confidence for new CDL holders or those looking to obtain a CDL in the future. We are hiring for this position because our previous yard hostler is now driving full time in our fleet division. We are always looking for new drivers and are eager to promote from within. The schedule is somewhat flexible but generally falls within the hours of 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. A CDL is not required for this position. Pay range is $20/hour - $23/hour, DOE.

The Location:
We are located in Mount Vernon just north of Highway 20 in the beautiful Skagit Valley. The site is a fully operational Construction & Demolition recycling center which has frequent traffic, dust and noise.
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to work in an outdoor environment that may include exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, and strong odors (food waste)
- Ability to wear required PPE including gloves, hardhat, hearing protection and others as needed
- Able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout the day
- Able to bend & twist at waist
- Able to be physically active for long periods of time, as needed
- Able to sit and operate truck for extended periods, as needed
- Safely be able to enter and exit truck cab repeatedly throughout the day, as needed
- Ability to climb up and down from heights
- Able to make fast and repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrist for an extended period of time while operating truck.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
