Job description

The job description of an Maryland Yard Employee primarily consists of first sampling then unloading the product. The product could be a multitude of fluids consisting of the following waste oil, waste anti-freeze, waste gasoline and water. The process of both testing and unloading are similar in activity as both require the climbing of the tanker truck.

The physical characteristics of this job require the following:

• The ability to remain on your feet for prolonged periods of time

• The ability to work outside and manage the weather accustomed to the north-east

• The strength to repeatedly climb tanker trucks during a day

• The ability to balance oneself while walking on top of the tanker truck

• The ability to work at heights (10-15 ft.)

• The strength and dexterity to lift and position fluid hoses to the back of the tanker

• The strength to open and close pipe valves

• The ability to pull down overhead self retractable lanyard & attach to back D-ring

• The ability to bend and twist while making hose connections

• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (position chocks, maneuver hoses)

• Clean up chemical spills when necessary

• Assist with snow removal (i.e. shovel, spread salt or ice melt)
