Location: Local! 415 N. Zarfoss Dr. York, PA
- $17.50/hr with regular driver's license
- $18.50/hr CDL Class A or B, Passenger Endorsement, Air Brake Restriction Lifted

- Please note our employees have the option to attend paid training & receive tuition assistance to obtain their full CDL.
Requirements - Must Have:
- Valid Driver's License
- Open availability to work during ANY our operating hours: Monday thru Saturday 3:30 AM - 11 PM, as weekly repeating work schedule is not assigned/chosen until after new hire has completed several week, paid training program and work schedule can change every six months based on seniority bid system.
Job Summary (Role in organization):
The position is critical in assisting rabbittransit in meeting our mission of mobility. The impact of public transportation runs much deeper than a trip from point A to point B. This position is responsible for operating a van/bus to transport passengers in a safe and courteous manner according to the daily manifest. The driver is responsible for driving defensively and reacting to emergency situations to ensure the safety of the passengers and the safety of the general public. Work includes completion of vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate records, assisting passengers as required including wheelchair securements, receiving and accounting for fares, radio communications, following emergency procedures, and other activities as assigned by the Operations Supervisor/General Manager/Site Manager. The operator is responsible for meeting all attendance requirements according to bid (if applicable), CBA (if applicable) policy, and safety emergency response situations. CPTA is the County Emergency responder (if applicable to that division). Available for forms of transportation systems as needed (if applicable to that division).
Key/Reporting Relationship:
This position reports to the Operations Supervisor/General Manager/Site Manager. This position
receives training, general supervision and works according to standards.
Some of the Essential knowledge, skills, abilities and experience.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and common sense understanding to carry out
transportation services. - Ability to keep mentally alert and maintain concentration.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and demonstrated ability to operate and drive transit
vehicles in a safe manner. - Ability to understand and adhere to Authority rules, procedures, directions, funding
guidelines, DOT regulations and PA traffic regulations. - Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation with the ability to deal courteously,
sensitively, and effectively with the public. Adherence to regulations; harassment/discrimination policy/guidelines. - Ability to operate communication and other designated automated equipment.
- Ability to manage one's own time and to follow a schedule to meet deadlines.
- Ability to actively listen, communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions
that are given in English. Ability to complete records. Ability to work with diverse
customers. - Must meet hiring qualifications including but not limited to, minimum of 21 years of age
with additional criteria, acceptable driving record and background verification in
accordance with CPTA standards.
Certificates and Licenses Required:
- For Non-CDL Operator (specific to division) must possess valid motor vehicle operator's
license that is not under suspension or revocation, and possess current automobile
insurance coverage. - To Qualify for CDL Operator pay rate, must possess valid Commercial Driver's License class "A" or "B" operator's license with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted that is not under suspension or revocation and possess current automobile insurance coverage.
- Must possess a valid DOT medical card. (Will send for such if given a contingent offer.)
- This is a safety sensitive position subject to US DOT Drug and Alcohol pre-employment,
random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and return to duty testing.
