Youth Counselor- Swing Shift
Job description
As the Swing Shift Youth Counselor you will provide a safe and nurturing environment for youth that come into the program by assessing and meeting basic needs and intervening as necessary to assist the youth in stabilizing. Our Counselor is responsible for organizing and engaging children in fun therapeutic activities, projects designed for a variety of age and ability levels, and intervene with the behavior as needed by practicing coping strategies or distress tolerance skills with the goal of reaching stabilization.

- Assist clinician in intake process and create a welcoming environment for the youth

Work in coordination with parents and social workers as treatment team members

Participate in weekly supervision with the Program Supervisor

Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork including, but not limited to, daily mental health notes, incident reports, time sheets, petty cash, and mileage

Contribute to a positive team culture that centers values of anti-racism and anti-oppression

Participate in the review of policies, practices, and data through a lens of anti-racism to ensure equitable outcomes for youth and families and equitable opportunities for staff

Provide on-call response as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree OR
- Associate’s degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR
- High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
- Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families, working in the social services field, providing intensive crisis support to youth & families, short term residential care, or acute psychiatric setting
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Own vehicle, California driver’s license and insurance
- Clearance of TB test, fingerprints and any other mandatory state/federal requirements
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English
- Ability to work as a team player and with a diverse population
- Full time; Beaumont, CA
- Tue – Sat OR Sun - Thu
- Flexibility required; 3:30pm-12am
- On-site hours:5:30PM-12AM
- Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and weekend days as needed.
- On-Call availability as needed.
- Starting at $20 to $22.50 per hour, actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualification
- Additional compensation upon passing bilingual proficiency exam
