Youth Development Associate
North Valley Caring Services is a non-profit community center that offers many services to the community. The programs are: Safe Parking, Homeless Breakfast and Shower Program, Family Support, Street and Motel Outreach, After school Program, Youth Program, Workforce Development, Colectivo, Food Pantry and more. NVCS is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and creative person that has experience and passion working with underserved youth.
JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW
Youth development associate is responsible for encouraging student engagement and providing academic support through tutoring and homework assistance. Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor the youth development associate is also responsible to organize and conduct enrichment and recreational activities. Our goal is to improve the quality of life and make a difference in the lives of the children under our direct care.
Program implementation for this position is in person. Programming is conducted by promoting all safety precautions and guidelines. May be asked to perform functions outside of normal job description depending on the needs of the program and if necessary.
Key Roles:
- Ensure a physical and emotional safe environment for all members at all times.
- Supervises small and large groups of youth
- Plan, organizes, and conducts enrichment and recreational activities.
- Plan activities and turn in weekly.
- Provides activity reports, attendance reports, and write ups to the Program Coordinator.
- Communicates Program progress as requested.
- Provides guidance and role modeling to the youth.
- Promotes and stimulates program participation.
- Maintaining classroom cleanliness
- Food prep and serve.
- Communicate with parents and volunteers
- Data entry and reporting
- Event planning
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience working with students grades K-12
- Ability to supervise students grades K-12
- Create enrichment and recreational activities for students
- Strong communication skills with staff, parents, and students.
- Knowledge in event planning.
- Public speaking
- Knowledge in computer skills
JOB TITLE: Youth Development Associate
STATUS: 25-30 hours a week
REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor
PROGRAM: Grades K-12
Salary
- $ 18-19
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
- Minimum 6 ECE units (Preferred)
- CPR certified
Shift Availability
- Day Shift (Required)
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 2:00pm-6:30pm
Schedule changes when LAUSD is on break and Afterschool program transitions to Spring, Summer, and winter break programs ( usually 11am-4pm)
- Tuesday 1:00pm-6:30pm
- 25-30 hours a week
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
