The Fleet Manager is responsible for driving a higher level of fleet reliability and availability. The Fleet manager will be responsible for maintenance optimization through the development and introduction of processes and procedures. The Fleet Manager will head up a reliability Tiger Team that will ensure meeting contractual availability levels. This position main objective is to eliminate Liquidated Damages brough about by shortages in fleet availability. Utilize KPI’s to evaluate performance and recommend improvements.


Main Task:

  • Support and implement safety policies, practices and fleet reliability initiatives that comply with all procedures, laws and regulations for automatic/manual train movements. Ensure employees are trained per applicable standards and adhere to rules to deliver safe/efficient system service. Monitor safety performance of department per System Safety Program Plan (SSPP).
  • Manage direct departmental fleet work activities. Develop objectives and evaluate performance against objectives. Direct and hold Foreman accountable for meeting the goals of site. Create a challenging and supportive work environment that inspires safety, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Develop troubleshooting team by instructing them in the proper techniques. This position also manage the training requirements for all train maintenance technicians.
  • The Fleet manager will be the subject matter expert on train maintenance for the site.
  • Reviews existing maintenance techniques (as it relates to troubleshooting) and practices to validate their effectiveness.
  • Reviews potential maintenance techniques and scientific tools that may be introduces to drive a higher level of reliability.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Systems and Projects Managers on resources required to help collectively plan and schedule (resources) and tasks daily.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 7 Years Transit experience
  • 5 Years progressive expertise in troubleshooting practices
  • 5 Years experience overseeing employees in a Maintenance and Operations environment
  • Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to pass all required background and security screening at the site.
