Title: Trash/Floor Tech
Hours: Tuesday - Saturday (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Pay Rate: $12.00-14.00 Per hour
Location: High Point University Campus
Position Summary: The Trash Tech/Floor Tech duties include using a cart caddie to safely remove campus dumpsters weighing in excess of 1,400 lbs. for proper waste disposal, operate various types of equipment and machinery, which include wet vacuums, hand trucks, vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, floor buffers, automatic scrubbers, etc., as well as, general cleaning, pulling trash, dusting, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming, and other cleaning duties. In addition, other duties may be assigned by the management. Job description subject to change.
Position Responsibilities:
- Collects, transports, and properly disposes of trash and bio-hazardous materials following established safety protocols.
- Performs cleaning functions as assigned; properly operates cleaning equipment as designated.
- Recognizes safety hazards and acts accordingly.
- Operating buffers, super stripper, low speed, carpet extractors, and automatic scrubber to keep up with floor care in buildings.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Assists in the completion of the workload in the absence of others.
- Assists in project cleaning of buildings which includes: lifting and removing furniture from rooms, refinishing hard surface floors, shampooing carpets, cleaning blinds, light fixtures/shields, washing walls, windows, doors, and furniture.
- Reports any malfunctions and maintenance problems to the supervisor. Discusses work problems and/or schedule problems with the supervisor and/or management.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
A valid driver's license
Ability to work independently
Experience in Manufacturing Plant or Warehouse experience preferred.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to learn and explain basic cleaning principles and techniques.
Ability to utilize basic email/call/text communication.
Clean Motor Vehicle Record required.
Physical Demands: The employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with arms and hands. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must lift / move up to 50
pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. including AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. The noise level is usually moderate.
