We are hiring a Groundskeeper!

· Schedule: Swing Shift 4pm-12:30am

· Pay rate $23.25

You will be responsible for ensuring all operational areas, including buildings, walkways, and fence lines, and operational areas are kept in clean and orderly condition while ensuring that all/her efforts are compliant with the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Essential Functions

• Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.
• Keep general areas of the facility clear of debris, trash, and vegetation,

• Regularly check and empty trash containers at the facility.
• By direction of facilities leadership regularly power wash and paint safety barricades, handrails, and buildings around the facility.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to Schnitzer's property.
• Support the overall focus of a World Class and customer-friendly facility.
• Perform related duties and projects as directed by supervisor.
• sweeping, weeding, painting, debris disposal, power washing, and other operations.
• Daily activities will be assigned to include sweeping walkways, power washing walls, and glass, removing rubbish and debris from the facility, trash bin emptying, and painting buildings, concrete barriers, and handrails

Equipment & Maintenance

• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Willingness to learn and safely operate forklift and person lift to complete above tasks.

Job Conditions

o This position is regularly exposed to all weather conditions.

o Physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt are present due to the equipment, machinery, and scrap as would be found throughout the scrap yard.

o Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment as needed, must be worn to eliminate the risks associated with these hazards.

o Travel is not required for this position.

o Handling multiple issues regarding safety and maintenance increases pressure. Workload may be unpredictable, and pressure can be substantial during peak times.

o Critical deadlines require considerable adaptability.

o Disturbances of workflow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis.

o Extra hours may be required, sometimes on weekends, weekdays, and holidays.

Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions

o Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally

o Crouch or bend at the knees occasionally

o Climbing to reach the work site occasionally

o Stoop or bend at the waist occasionally; reach at arm’s length frequently or overhead frequently

o twist and turn at the neck and trunk frequently

o walk frequently on uneven ground; handle and grasp supplies continually; hearing continually.

o Visual acuity is needed for close detail work.

o Mental dexterity needed as Environmental Impact Teammate will work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness.

Qualifications

A High School diploma or GED Certification is preferred. Candidates must have the ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Ability to speak and understand English as a basic level required. This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an automobile.
