Position Responsibilities:

The Sanitation Operator at Turkey Hill responsibilities includes operating automated Clean in Place units and Clean Out of Place Units in an ambient environment. A Sanitation Operator is responsible for the proper disassembly, cleaning, assembly, setup and sanitizing of the Raw Tanks, Receiving Lines, Raw Lines, HTST, Mix Transfer Lines, Flavor Vats, Fruit Feeder, Varigator, Fillers and Freezing Centers used in the manufacture of frozen dessert products in a cGMP compliant environment.

Sanitation Operator responsibilities also include adherence to SSOP requirements and quality assurance documentation ensuring good documentation practices are followed during sanitation operations to consistently meet cleaning verification and validation steps.

Key Duties:

• Disassemble clean, sanitize and assemble all equipment associated with the manufacture of mixes and ice cream products in accordance to all applicable SSOPs related to sanitary condition, cleanliness, and equipment condition.
• Monitor CIP and COP Unit outputs and make required adjustments to chemical concentrations, heat and flow rates to maintain cleaning specifications.
• Responsible for cleaning the production environment and peripheral areas.
• Works closely with machine operators to evaluate proper cleaning and food safe conditions of equipment.
• Maintain activities consistent with the Sanitation Manual and sanitation procedures as a part of the overall quality system.
• Perform cleaning verification as require through visual, chemical and ATP swabbing as a part of the sanitation process.
• Tasks include housekeeping, general sanitation and product quality assessment responsibilities throughout the sanitation process.
• Read labels on chemicals and cleaning agents to understand their use.
• Understand MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) to learn about chemicals used including first aid and safety.
• Ensure department records are complete and accurate.
• Maintain the integrity of the quality system.
• Perform preventive maintenance as assigned.
• Exhibit continuity to the site supporting corporate and local management policies.
• Keep management informed of developments as they occur.
• Be engaged in the day-to-day running of the business by performing tasks beyond normal/baseline job responsibilities, participating in team or business improvement meetings and initiatives positioned toward improving business results.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

• High school education or equivalency.
• Must have previous food industry line experience.
• Demonstrated ability to operate equipment efficiently and safely.
• Demonstrated ability to execute safe work practices & behaviors.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of personnel individually or in a team environment and ability to interface and communicate with production line workers and area managers.
• Demonstrated willingness to work any shift, weekends and holidays.
• Demonstrated willingness to adhere to cGMP requirements.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires the ability to pass drug screens utilizing hair testing and partner to provide a drug-free, healthful and safe work environment.

Position may involve standing for extended periods of times.

Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds to the waist, good visual accuracy, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, effective verbal communication skills.
