Job Description

The Fiber Accountant is an exciting position, demanding excellence in technical skills and a proven ability to work on cross-functional projects. You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support and directly contribute to Fiber's growth. You are empowered to drive efficiency improvements in our month end close and reporting processes.

You will be involved in many different accounting aspects of Fiber, reviewing, posting, and analyzing journal entries; solving system and process gaps; and playing an integral role in the monthly close process, providing insights to the Fiber Controller. You are enthusiastic and a self-starter, wanting to enhance existing processes; scoping, designing, and implementing new and scalable processes to support Fiber's growth.

Fiber accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Fiber. As a member of this team, you know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reporting and you'll review, analyze, and interpret financial reports. Every day is a new challenge, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team get better at what we do, in the most efficient way possible. A team player at heart, you collaborate with our cross-functional team, evangelize best practices and roll up your sleeves to pitch in when it's all hands on deck. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support Fiber's business objectives.


Responsible for the following:

  • Ownership and accountability for Inventory and Lease Accounting
    • Prepare and present financial information related to month-end close as well any ad hoc requests from Alphabet, FP&A and the business (e.g. Supply Chain)
    • Deep understanding of the business and key activities and drivers to obtain comfort over accounting on a month-to-month basis
  • Create solutions related to areas of risk and document risk mitigation plans
  • Propose improved processes, document processes, ensure performance of controls, and obtain/provide support as necessary
  • Participate in system design, documentation and testing when applicable
  • Collaborate with technical accounting to ensure we are appropriately accounting for new initiatives in the Fiber business and help document the related accounting memos and policies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 2 year in public accounting
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills required
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, CA and/or strong working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience with ERP (e.g. SAP S4 HANA)
  • Database experience including proficiency in SQL coding across standard commercial databases (e.g MySQL etc.)
  • Experience driving process improvement and other project management experience
  • Analytical skills, quantitative, and strong computer desktop skills
  • Telco industry or construction planning experience in an operational accounting role

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $91,000 - $133,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
