Summary:

A member of the Accounting staff. Provides leadership and coordination of the company’s property, sales and use tax policies and procedures. Assists with the monthly close process and the preparation of financial statements. Responsible for the calculation of sales rep commissions. Participates in the annual budget process and performs other key accounting duties as needed.

Responsibilities:

15%: Responsible for researching sales and use tax rules as applicable for our various divisions and disseminating proper procedures for each state in which they operate. Maintains and updates documentation of sales tax rules and procedures.

15%: Communicates and trains employees on proper billing of sales and use tax. Coordinates sales tax audits, responds to taxing authority inquiries, and coordinates sales tax updates.

15%: Prepare property tax renditions and/or returns, coordinates the payment of property taxes on a timely basis, and maintains property tax accrual reconciliations.

25%: Assists with the monthly close process, preparation of financial statements, and prepares various reconciliations on a monthly and/or quarterly basis. This includes monthly calculations of sales rep commissions, rebates, construction and service jobs/work-in-progress, airplane usage and SIFL calculations, investments, prepaid insurance, and fixed assets along with other duties as assigned.

15%: Assists in the preparation of the annual budget as assigned.

15%: Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education: Requires a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting or related areas. Equivalent experience is acceptable only with CPA.

Experience: 4+ years of experience in the financial/accounting field.

Licenses/Certifications: Certified Public Accountant certification preferred.

Technical Abilities: Accounting experience providing thorough understanding of accounting principles and internal controls. Knowledge and experience with property, sales and use taxes. Public accounting experience, preferred.

Autonomy/Direction: Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a senior leader.

Conditions of Employment: Working Hazards: Works in a seated position for extended periods of time.

Physical/Mental Exertion Ability to perform light physical work, exerting up to 10
pounds of force on a frequent basis, performing such activities as fingering, grasping, lifting, reaching, crouching, and repetitive tasks. Continuous attention to numerical detail. Normal office environment.

Tools and Equipment: Ability to accomplish the described duties through the use of appropriate computer and general office equipment. Works with Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint. Highly computer literate and uses accounting, supply chain and CRM software.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
