ACCOUNTANT- ENTRY LEVEL

The Entry Level Accountant performs various accounting functions within the Palco, including those related to bookkeeping, program operations, reporting, and payroll taxes.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs daily accounting duties related to program operations, including all tasks associated with processing payroll, filing and reporting required payroll taxes and tax reports, making journal entries, and performing reconciliations
  • Performs monthly bookkeeping including reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Assists Billing Manager with necessary billing procedures.
  • Forms relationships with various State and Federal entities who are engaged during the enrollment and/or program services process.
  • Research, compiles and develops procedures regarding new processes associate with State entities as they relate to tax reporting
  • Ensures compliance of division services with corporate policy, program and contractual guidelines, and federal and state tax and labor laws.
  • Implements corporate, contractual, and legal changes throughout the division.
  • Provides reports to interested parties
  • Ensures professional standard of communication and rapport with Palco clients.
  • Oversees consistent, legitimate, and relevant quality assurance measures for division processes.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • Attends conferences, webinars, or other continuing education as needed
  • Protects the confidentiality of health records
  • Oversees the following division services:
  • Registers Palco with various State and Federal entities in order to establish individuals as new employers and ensure that the Processing Department is able to timely file tax and labor reports
  • Oversees the process of establishing individuals as the employer of record with necessary state and federal parties, including monitoring the appointment of agent letters and tax identification number assignments
  • Researches state-specific laws as they pertain to enrollment and program services and making recommendations to leadership
  • Manage New Hire Reporting tasks in all states by reporting new hires and rehires to applicable state agencies
  • Assists in the following services as needed:
  • Performs training to ensure that company proprietary software is utilized properly in establishing and modifying records
  • Oversees certain program services, such as income and employment verification, state unemployment claims
  • Assist the Director of FMS in facilitating and managing the transition of program services from prior vendors to Palco
  • Participates in development, training and other departmental meetings and adheres to corporate policies that concern the FMS department
Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Communicates effectively with a range of individuals using person-centered techniques in all interactions.
  • Ability to handle difficult or unusual situations with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Must have good problem-solving and listening skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Accounting degree preferred.
  • Payroll accounting background preferred.
