Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant/Grants Specialist will coordinate the college’s pre- and post- grant accounting processes; generate and analyze financial data, and compile timely and accurate financial reports. Perform project and grant financial management and provide financial support to program managers and is the business office liaison with funding institutions. In addition, the accountant/grants specialist will also prepare grant budgets, financial reports, and program analysis; set up accounts, billings, cash management, procurement review, reconcile funds and maintain system records. Will also assist in all compliance audits of the programs and financial audits of the college. Plus other duties as assigned by the Controller
This position is located at the Glenn’s Campus. The Glenns Campus is located in the Gloucster County area of the service region within commuting distance to York County, New Kent County, and surrounding areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field in accounting or finance, or the equivalent in education or training plus considerable work experience in accounting. Possess a knowledge of grant accounting, including state and federal rules, regulations, processes, and procedures. Knowledge of proper internal control processes and procedures, grant administration, and general financial accounting practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PeopleSoft applications or similar software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education or state experience. Experience with AIS, Cardinal. Knowledge of the Commonwealth Accounting Policies and Procedures (CAPP).
