JOB SUMMARY:
The Accountant III/Customer Accounts Lead will be a key contributor to the Saint Louis University finance team. This individual will be responsible for accurate, timely, consistent financial information for the operations of the University, mainly accounts receivable. They will also be responsible for monitoring revenue and other accounting tasks as assigned. The Accountant III/Customer Accounts Lead will partner with the different schools within the University to provide accurate financial statements to support their operations.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Ensure the integrity of the University’s financial records and the transactions entered into the University’s general ledger are recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
  • Oversee AR/Revenue reconciliation processes and procedures that ensure effective integration of financial transactions;
  • Review agreements entered into by the University to ensure appropriate accounting under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
  • Support the Accounting Manager in the development and maintenance of accurate, complete, timely financial statements and other financial information;
  • Work directly with stakeholders to interpret financial trends;
  • Prepare month end account reconciliations;
  • Preparation of required surveys as needed
  • Review all invoices completed in Workday for completeness and accuracy;
  • Review and follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable
  • Calculate quarterly allowances
  • Prepare quarterly analysis of revenue and receivables for senior leadership;
  • Train departments on the proper use of the customer accounts functionality in Workday;
  • Assist in special projects as requested and communicate status of projects;
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting;
  • Research and resolve accounting issues to ensure US GAAP compliance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The Accountant III must possess a unique combination of skills and abilities to successfully navigate a complex set of priorities, including:
  • Strong technical U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles knowledge;
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting;
  • Understanding of business processes and ability to identify risks and use data to assist with accurate financial statements;
  • Knowledge of Workday, Power BI, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Tableau and business objects are preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to accomplish results and effectively prioritize initiatives across units amid competing priorities in a complex multi-mission organization;
  • Ability to recognize areas of process improvement and assist in implementing new processes and procedures;
  • Consistently demonstrates and encourages a commitment to quality, customer-centeredness, productivity, and continuous improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 5 years’ experience in accounting;
  • BS/BA degree in accounting;
  • CPA preferred;
