Are you interested in providing administrative support to a Corporate Finance department? Lamar's Corporate office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is now hiring a new Cash Accounting Administrative Specialist to help support our financial business processes in Baton Rouge, LA, and around the country! The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Accounting and Treasury departments.

What we are looking for in YOU:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically intermediate Excel skills
  • Deadline-oriented, good time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to assess a situation, gather more information if necessary, and identify issues to be addressed
  • Works well independently and as a team member

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree, business school certification, and/or some college preferred
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative setting is preferred
  • 2+ years of computer software used in an office setting is preferred

A day in the life:

  • Reconciling the Company’s daily cash activity to multiple sources, including cash change reports, bank statements, and general ledger for each bank account. This process includes ensuring all cash activity has a related journal entry recorded in the general ledger
  • Compiling support from multiple sources and maintaining data/information requests for the Company’s unclaimed property and escheatment processes
  • Tracking and review of bank reconciliations completed by the Company’s field offices to ensure timeliness, completeness, and accuracy
  • Compilation of journal entry supporting documentation to assist Accounting with posting journal entries
  • Posting of journal entries prepared by others
  • Ensuring journal entries and backup are retained in accordance with the Company’s record retention policy
  • Running ad hoc reports as requested by other department members
  • Downloading monthly bank statements and merchant reports and distributing them to applicable personnel
  • Monthly report processing for Corporate credit cards
  • Respond to and distribute Accounting inquiry emails
  • Assist the Accounting and Treasury departments with special requests as needed, including, but not limited to: petty cash closure projects, internal and external audits, etc

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The primary work environment is an office
  • The physical demands for this position include light lifting, seeing (with a focus on reading), sitting more than 50% of the time, talking, and walking
  • Nights spent traveling, away from home, are less than 10%
